Depending on your geographical location it may be called a Starting Iron or Putting Iron. This iron is used for placing either cotton or oakum in the seam.
Standard profile for working around awkward places such as garboard seams.
This has a single crease 1/8" (3mm) with a radius edge for hardening down cotton.
For working king planks, joggles, curved seams and hood ends.
Single crease 3/16'' (4.5cm) with radius edge for hardening down Oakum.
5 Irons made in Tool Steel. These irons have a bevelled head and a sharper working end on all three making irons. The two hardening irons for Cotton and Oakum remain the same.
